Attention Movie Buffs!

OK, who is the biggest movie buff???
You think you are a movie buff? Try this! It's really hard!!
Look at the pics in the excel file and try to determine what movie they are from.
Type in the blank next to the number and it will tell you true or false.
Let me know how many you get!

JADE! It won't let me open it and I want to play.

Posted by: nuala on March 18, 2004 04:23 PM

huh. did you try opening it in excel?
i'll try emailing it to you and see if that works.

Posted by: jade on March 18, 2004 04:33 PM

Who's Michael Chung? The author?

Posted by: gene on March 18, 2004 05:03 PM

That was really freakin hard!
I only got 21 of them.
Great Quiz!

Posted by: Clint on March 18, 2004 05:12 PM

43 so far. #13 and #19 are taunting me.

Posted by: sean on March 18, 2004 05:26 PM

where'd you see Michael Chung?
i dunno, but he probably is the author...

Posted by: jade on March 18, 2004 05:31 PM

dood. i suck. i only got 17. we should compare answers and see if we can get them all!

Posted by: jade on March 18, 2004 05:49 PM

damn. only got 20. i'm very proud that i spotted gremlins, though.

Posted by: holohan on March 18, 2004 11:59 PM

26 here, but some of them are frustrating the hell out of me. I'm absolutely POSITIVE one is The Adventures of Baron von Munchausen, but the sheet won't take it.

Posted by: Jacob on March 19, 2004 07:49 AM

take out the "von" and it will. another one which had mr. in the title would only accept it without the period after mr, which irritated me a great deal. plus, i'm not sure if a thing which has at least TWO of adam sandler's movies counts as being a movie buff. plus a britney spears movie. that's just not good cinema.

Posted by: michele on March 19, 2004 09:01 AM

well i guess you can't really be a movie buff unless you've also seen the movies that you don't really want to admit to seeing, and can even recognize a random scene from.

Posted by: jade on March 19, 2004 09:35 AM

but it's all relatively contemporary films too! where's the classics? where's anything in black and white that was actually filmed when only b/w filming was possible? i was bothered by this highly selective sampling of films. don't get me wrong though, it was fun trying to guess what they were, i only managed to get 23 of them when i tried last night. but i was hella tired and went to bed. i will see if i can get more later. =)

Posted by: michele on March 19, 2004 10:24 AM

good point. there is lawrence of arabia though...we should make another one to include a sampling from the classics, like the neverending story, anything musical, citizen kane and what not.
(not that i know how to set up a macro like that, or know how to delete people from their clothing.)

The films that it's incorrect on are hair-tearing-out frustrating. There's no "The" in Unforgiven. Where's the "von" in Baron von Munchausen?

Oddly, most of the movies that I've guessed are ones I've never seen....I'm still trying to figure out how that works.

Posted by: Jacob on March 19, 2004 12:02 PM

are you telling me not ONE of these is the invisible man movie?

Posted by: didofoot on March 19, 2004 12:11 PM

there is no von.
http://imdb.com/title/tt0096764/
there's only a von in the german title originally.

Posted by: michele on March 19, 2004 12:11 PM

meli and i are up to 40. she's convinced that 45 is raiders of the lost ark but it won't take any of our variations. and what in gods name is 32???

Posted by: holohan on March 19, 2004 05:29 PM

45 isn't raiders of the lost ark. think indie, not indy.

32 is driving me crazy, too.

i am at 49.

Posted by: sean on March 19, 2004 06:33 PM

also:

curse you, #13 and #19.

Posted by: sean on March 19, 2004 06:34 PM

ah. indie indeed. i might have known.

that's 42, motherfucker!

sean, if and when you figure out #13 you'll kick yourself so hard that we'll hear it in the east bay.

Posted by: holohan on March 19, 2004 07:25 PM

Damn you Holohan for re-opening the invisibles can-o-worms! Julie and I lost a lot of sleep on that site a few years ago...

Posted by: jmv on March 20, 2004 12:37 AM

Well, we got three more before we cracked and looked at the answers for a total of 53...

I've never even heard of the #3...

Posted by: jmv on March 20, 2004 12:46 AM

58 before I gave up (giivng myself credit for "Jerry MacQuire" and "The fast and furious", despite the spelling).

I kicked myself hard over #13.

Posted by: sean on March 20, 2004 01:57 PM
